Pennsylvania measles outbreak grows to 977 cases; fifth death reported

Pennsylvania's measles outbreak reached 977 confirmed cases as of October 2, with 195 hospitalizations and a fifth measles-associated death, an unvaccinated Lancaster County resident. Lancaster County accounts for 391 cases. The outbreak spans 39 counties; more than 99 percent of cases are in unvaccinated or undervaccinated people.

Measles exposures reported at Philadelphia airport and children's hospital

Philadelphia health officials announced two possible measles exposures: at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on September 11 and at Philadelphia International Airport on September 13-14. As of September 23, no measles cases had been reported in Philadelphia County, according to the state dashboard.
